Academic Booster Club
 OPEN HOUSE PIZZA SUPPER

$2.00 per slice/$1.00 for a drink
or $12.00 for a whole pizza and 4 drinks
Thanks to all who joined the Academic Booster Club (ABC) this year. Your contributions are used for student appreciation for a job well done in the classroom and for purchasing items that enhance and enrich students' academic performance. Please continue to support our fund-raising efforts. We will have a table set up at the CHS Open House for anyone who would like to join. Come out and meet your student's teachers and enjoy some delicious pizza!
Laptop Information
 Laptops will be deployed to first time 9th graders on September 5th and returning upperclassmen on September 11th. In order for your child to receive a laptop the following items are required:
1) Full payment of $50.00 for laptop insurance. (If a returning student has paid the entire $50 fee before, they are not obligated to pay this fee again.)
2) The acceptable use policy must be signed by both parent and student.
All forms should be turned in to 1st block teachers and all insurance payments should be paid to the Camden High School bookkeeper.

Kershaw County Youth Court Orientation & Training Youth volunteers ages 12-18 interested in the judicial process:
Be part of a program where you can be an attorney, bailiff, juror, or clerk of court in a real life juvenile case! The youth jury determines sanctions for youth who have committed a first-time offense!

SACS/CASI Visit
SACS/CASI Southern Association of Colleges and Schools The South Carolina Council on Accreditation and School Improvement
Camden High School will be visited on September 16, 2008, as part of the Kershaw County School District SACS/CASI district accreditation process. In preparation for the visit, the Camden High School Renewal Plan was prepared and submitted last school year. Teachers, parents, students, community members, and other stakeholders reviewed the School Renewal Plan and also discussed the AdvancED Accreditation Standards for Quality School Systems. Two members of the district Quality Assurance Review team will tour the campus of CHS for an instructional walk-through and to interview school staff, students, parents, teachers, and community stakeholders so that they can see for themselves our “Commitment to Excellence”.

From the Principal for the Week of September 1-5, 2008
 INSTRUCTION:
Laptop deployment will be to Freshman on Friday, September 5th and to Upperclassmen on Thursday, September 11th. Students must return the Acceptable Use Policies and must purchase laptop insurance before they can be given a laptop. The insurance cost is $50.00 and is a one-time fee.
SCHOOL CALENDAR:
Mark your calendars for Open House which will be on Monday, September 15th from 7:00 until 8:30. Open House will begin with a General Session in the gym. This session will include an update on facilities and on the school's performance goals for last year.
Camden High will welcome the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accreditation visitation team to our campus on September 16th.
ATHLETICS:
The varsity football game has been changed to Thursday, September 4th. The game begins at 7:30.
Congratulations to the varsity volleyball team on two strong wins against Brookland Cayce and Irmo this week in their first regular season matches. The girls' tennis team has its first regular season match on Thursday, September 4th.
Information about student season passes can be obtained by calling Mrs. Raley in the athletic office at 425-8939.
SPECIAL RECOGNITIONS:
Congratulations to the Academic Booster Club on its selection as a 2008 Volunteer of the Year Award winner. Each year, the State Department of Education recognizes groups who make significant contributions to public education.
